Monster Catalogue Pg 2

This time the focus is on the Barghest, or the Black Dog.

Instead of the D&D dog-goblin, I decided to go with the idea that it's a shadow monster instead, following the original myth of the creature.

There are two types of the Barghest: the black dog, and a black bear from the German 'Bar-geist' (courtesy of Wikipedia. And being Wikipedia, it could be a mistake, but I still thought it's pretty good with the variation).

In this case, the Barghests have three transformations: one for hunting or baiting, one for dangerous situations, and a third as its true form. (Dog - left, below, right; Bear - top, centre, bottom)

As shadow monsters, these guys hunt people not for their meat, but for their souls. They also eat on the spot while their victims are alive, in case the souls manage to escape in order to go to the other side.
